An original and innovative teaching method
Far removed from the curricula imposed by traditional schools, we’ve designed a teaching
method that adapts to the student’s desires, expectations and objectives. The very DNA of our
school, the 360 method, is based on several key factors
PROJECT
The initial phase involves understanding the student’s musical tastes and expectations. During
the first lesson, the student and the teacher discuss musical preferences, and agree on a plan.
The teacher also explains the school’s teaching method.
INTERACTIVITY
Our courses emphasize exchange, sharing and communication. The teacher systematically
adapts the lessons to the student’s progress and learning pace. If the student hasn’t had the
opportunity to practice outside of the class, the teacher always incorporates practical exercises
during a lesson to help them advance. Each studio is equipped with an audio sequencer, as well
as fast internet connection, providing numerous resources and making the lessons even more
dynamic.
LISTENING
Ear training is a top priority at Gimmemusic School. To this end, the teacher records the student
periodically, so they can listen back and improve their performance if needed. Recording is also
an effective way to assess progress. Listening skills are also developed through playing in a
group. This is the reason why the teacher and the student regularly play together during
lessons.
THEORY
Our school places great importance on each student understanding the fundamentals of music
theory, both in writing and reading. Solfège instructions are provided at the appropriate time. As
students progress, they discover new concepts. Gimmemusic School also welcomes ‘auditory’
learners to courses more focused on audio and recording.
RHYTHM
Rhythm, it is the spine of music!
We place this fundamental component at the heart of our method. During each lesson, the
student practices short, practical exercises, allowing them to improve their precision at a chosen
tempo. It is not uncommon for them to play the latest pop hit on a drumkit or percussion
instrument!
EXPERIMENTATION
Music, it is sharing, well-being, an also adrenaline!
Our school organizes several events to give the students the opportunity to experience
performing on stage, recording in the studio, and playing in a group.
Our teachers regularly encourage their students to participate in the shows and workshops that
take place throughout the year.
