1. Nature of the contract
To begin, these general conditions have been drafted by GIMMEMUSIC SCHOOL, hereafter referred to as GMS, owned by Gimmemusic LLC. The generic term TEACHER used in these general conditions refers to the teachers engaged by the company. Likewise, the generic term STUDENT used in these general conditions refers to the person who enrolls.
2. How to enroll and unenroll
2.1. The first semester of 2026-2027 starts on Monday 24th August 2026 and ends on Monday 18th January 2027. The second semester starts on Tuesday 19th January 2027 and ends on 14th June 2027.
2.2. Every new STUDENT submits an enrollment request by completing the form found on the homepage www.gimmemusicschool.com under “I ENROLL”. In their request, the STUDENT selects the time slot and the duration of the individual lesson agreed with GMS. A new student who has decided to enroll without taking a trial lesson also completes this form, indicating the time slot agreed with GMS. Note that at the end of the form, the STUDENT can only send it once they have read and accepted these general conditions.
2.3. Upon receipt of the enrollment form, GMS sends the full schedule of the semester’s lessons electronically, together with the invoice.
2.4. Once the form has been sent and the general conditions have been accepted by the STUDENT, no withdrawal period nor cancellation of the invoice is granted. Consequently, the STUDENT agrees to follow the courses for which they have enrolled.
2.5. In principle, enrollments close 2 weeks before the start of a semester. However, should the availability of the TEACHER allow it, the STUDENT has the possibility of enrolling during the year.
2.6. The renewal of enrollment for the 2nd semester’s lessons is automatic, if the STUDENT already enrolled at GMS wishes to continue their lessons at our school at the same time slot. If the STUDENT wishes to change their time slot or interrupt their lessons, they must inform GMS before the announced deadline, failing which their enrollment is automatically renewed. The renewal of enrollment for the 1st semester’s lessons is not automatic. In other words, the STUDENT must inform the secretariat in writing by the end of June whether or not they actually wish to renew their enrollment.
3. Prices and terms of payment
3.1. The prices in effect are presented on the school’s website and are valid for the entire duration of the semester. Should they change, the STUDENT receives a written notification 1 month before the end of the semester, so that they can unenroll if necessary.
3.2. For new students, a single, non-refundable flat fee of CHF 50.00 is charged with the first invoice. This amount covers the administrative costs related to the processing of the STUDENT’s enrollment. Any trial lesson taken is not billed in the event of enrollment.
3.3. The invoice always corresponds to the number of lesson units included in the semester for which the STUDENT has enrolled. In case of an enrollment during the semester, GMS will take into account the number of lesson units for which the STUDENT has signed up.
3.4. Upon receipt of the invoice, the STUDENT has the option of making a payment arrangement with the school, in the form of a maximum of 4 monthly installments.
3.5. All invoices must be paid within 14 days. Exceeding this deadline will result in a 1st reminder (costing CHF 5.00, after 10 days), then a 2nd reminder (costing CHF 15.00, after 5 days).
3.6. In the event of non-payment within the above-mentioned time limits, GMS reserves the right to suspend the lessons with immediate effect, and the invoice remains due in its entirety. Additionally, GMS will take the appropriate legal steps.
3.7. The invoice is therefore due in its entirety once the STUDENT has approved these general conditions.
4. Organisation of lessons and treatment of absences
4.1. A definitive schedule is always sent to the STUDENT by email or post, no later than 2 weeks before the start of the semester or the 1st lesson.
4.2. The STUDENT has the option of moving or cancelling lessons, only and only if they inform the secretariat before the date of their first lesson fixed by the schedule. It goes without saying that these changes should stay within reasonable proportions (a maximum of 10% of the total lessons to be had).
4.3. The STUDENT’s schedule has been established to ensure that a lesson does not fall on a public or school holiday, based on the calendar of the canton of Vaud.
4.4. Lessons missed by the STUDENT are under no circumstances replaced or reimbursed, whatever the reason (illness, accident, professional obligation, etc.). However, GMS may grant some reductions for valid reasons (pregnancy, prolonged illness of more than 1 month attested by a medical certificate, etc.). The reimbursement cannot exceed a quarter of the amount of the invoice.
4.5. A lesson missed by a TEACHER is always replaced by the end of the semester. The lesson missed by a TEACHER can also be given by a substitute teacher.
4.6 A STUDENT enrolled in the “freely scheduled lessons (10 units)” agrees to plan their lesson units over a maximum of 2 successive semester periods. Beyond this period, it is no longer possible to schedule lessons with their teacher and the unused units are lost.
4.7 A STUDENT who enrolls “for the semester” has priority over one who chooses the “freely scheduled” formula. In other words, if the latter used to agree with their teacher on the same time slot (e.g. Tuesdays at 18h00) and a STUDENT then enrolls for the entire semester on that same slot, the STUDENT enrolled in the “freely scheduled lessons (10 units)” will have to find a new time slot that suits both them and their teacher.
5. Material and other media
5.1. All printouts from books and the internet are provided by GMS.
5.2. The STUDENT is responsible for the acquisition of their instrument(s) and, for the Studio Production & Electronic Music orientation, their equipment, according to the prerequisites set by the school.
6. Image rights
6.1. Students agree to assign their image rights to GMS. This assignment is complete and is subject to no time limit.
6.2. Consequently, it is agreed that if a student wishes to terminate this assignment, they must notify GMS in writing.
7. Other provisions
7.1. Following enrollment or its renewal, the STUDENT (or their legal representative) accepts these general conditions. In the event of differing interpretations, the legal venue is in Morges.
