Our violin teacher and educational director, Johan Dubrez

A violin teacher and professional violinist, Johan built his school around the idea that learning
music is first and foremost about enjoyment, giving direct meaning to what the student learns in
every lesson. Starting with a piece of music to extract rhythmic concepts and reproduce them,
accompanying one’s voice or instrument with a favorite song, or even recording a piano line
over a tune re-orchestrated by hom are just a few examples.

Johan is also the creator of the 360 method that our teachers implement at Gimmemusic
School.

A violin teacher, but also… a stage musician

Trained at the Geneva Conservatory and the EJMA in Lausanne, Johan has extensive
experience as a singer and musician, both on stage and in the streets, notably
with Galloway, a Celtic rock band from French-speaking Switzerland, and as part of DaveJohn,
an instrumental world funk duo. He also has many years of teaching experience at the Boullard
school, the Migros club school, and Fa Perché.

And… a composer at heart

A composer since childhood, Johan has written music in both traditional and contemporary
genres, drawing inspiration from his travels and encounters. Alongside his teaching career,
Johan produces film scores through Gimmemusic Publishing and continues his performing
career with various groups.
